The Patriots Jet Team L-39s are painted black and equipped with 25 gallon smoke oil tanks and electronic, GPS, controlled smoke generators that release red, white and blue smoke.

The team's signature maneuver is the ability to slide the L-39's tail, a maneuver not performed by other civilian jet teams.

The Jet Patriots team was formed in the early 2000s, while the team's first L-39 was purchased in 1999.

In 2006, the Patriots Jet Team became a full-sized aerobatic team expanded to four aircraft. It is the second largest civilian jet aircraft in the world after the Breitling Jet Team, which also uses the L-39 Albatross.
